Here come the red dragons...

Although 2022 was their first, we simply cannot imagine the competition without Team Wales. Embodying the spirit of the WBC with their charm, determination and talent, this team of Welshmen is one to watch for years to come.

Tomi Jones: Tomi’s string of achievements includes the VQ Award, Entrepreneur of the Year, runner up in UK Butcher of the Year, Welsh Butcher of the Year and over 80 gold awards for sausage making!

Liam Lewis: Hailing from North Wales, Liam works at @theholliesfarmshop in Tarporley Cheshire and has been a butcher for 13 years. “I remember my first job was making pigs in blankets! Now I can’t wait to get to Sacramento and show the world what Wales can do!

Matthew Edwards: Matthew is also from North Wales, currently working as NVQ Assessor at Coleg Cambria. His achievements to date includes World Skills UK Champion and Welsh Young Butcher Winner

Peter Rushforth: From the day Peter set foot into the meat industry at the age of 14, food has been his passion! Working closely with our customers we develop products to give them the edge over the corporate competition, helping modernise the ever-evolving industry and enable the independent butchers of our nation a strong future.

Benjamin Roberts: Having competed and coming 3rd at Welsh Young Butcher 2010, Benjamin has focussed on setting up and building a very successful and now well established butchery shop in Overton on Dee. 

Dan Allen-Raftery: A slaughter man and butcher from Mid Wales, Dan is currently working at Randall Parker Foods in Wales. His achievements include Welsh butcher of the Year 2017, World Skills Butchery Finalist 2015-2018 and Meat and Poultry Industry Skills, Levels 2 and 3.

Craig Holly: From South Wales, Craig started working in the industry in December 2012 and entered his first comp in 2016 “for bit of experience” but ended out taking out runner up Welsh Pork Butcher before winning Welsh Butcher of the Year in 2018!
