Applications for the 2020 World Butchers' Challenge and individual spots for the 2020 World Champion Butcher Apprentice and Young Butcher competition are now open!

The 2020 World Butchers’ Challenge
The 2020 World Butchers’ Challenge will be held on 5 September, 2020 (date TBC) in Sacramento, California and will be hosted by Visit Sacramento and the Butchers of America. Team places are limited to 16 for the 2020 challenge. First right of refusal will be given to the 12 nations that competed in the 2018 challenge, the remaining four teams will be randomly drawn.

Due to limited capacity, we require confirmation of your team’s entry no later than October 31, 2018. The entry fee deposit is required to be paid by November 30, 2018 following confirmation of your teams place.

The 2020 World Champion Butcher Apprentice & Young Butcher Competition
The 2020 World Champion Butcher Apprentice & Young Butcher Competition will be held, via two separate heats, on 4 September, 2020 (date TBC) in Sacramento, California and will be hosted by Visit Sacramento and the Butchers of America. Depending on the level of interest, entries per nation may be capped, this will be worked through as appropriate.

We require confirmation of individual entries no later than October 31, 2018 with the details on the next page filled in. The entry fee deposit is required to be paid by November 30, 2018 following confirmation of your place.

Entry fees

World Butchers’ Challenge team fee: 
$5,000 USD ($2,500 due prior to November 30, 2018 with the remainder due by March 31, 2019)

World Champion Butcher Apprentice & Young Butcher Competition fee: 
$500 USD per competitor ($250 due prior to November 30, 2018 with the remainder due by March 31, 2019)


Study Tour
The challenge will be preceded by a four-five day study tour showcasing Sacramento - the ‘Farm-to-Fork’ capital of the United States. More information and delegate fee rates will be available in late 2019.
