Coronavirus: Weekly Update + Shipping Info

WBC Community,

Following our last update on the Coronavirus ( dated 2 March), we have received further questions from teams over booking of trips and deadlines around sending equipment to the States.

Whilst, we have no new information to update you with, we will commit to weekly updates around what we do know, more frequently if something develops.

As of today, we can confirm that key events are still running in Sacramento as is the case with the World Butchers’ Challenge plans.

In regards to shipping of equipment, we hope to have further details on location and timeframes to you shortly however, please note, it is likely that teams will only be able to send equipment to our dedicated storage at the Golden 1 Center a few weeks ahead of time at maximum. Therefore, nothing should be being shipped in the next few months (unless you have arranged yourselves) which means we still have time up our sleeves.

With all other advice relating to travel and bookings, we urge you to follow the advice of WHO, your own national government, health and travel organisations. As previously stated, the situation is a rapidly evolving issue and unfortunately it is not possible to predict what will happen in the coming weeks and months. It is too early to say how long the disruption to international visitation is likely to last and how long the recovery period might be.

As a reminder, the World Butchers’ Challenge is in daily contact with the host organisations re contingency planning and will ensure any updates or developments are communicated to all in a timely manner.

As always, please feel free to contact us directly with any concerns or questions at anytime however, we appreciate your understanding that we are all in the same position with an unpredictable situation and the approach we need to take what comes next on a case by case basis.
