Coronavirus: Update

WBC Community,

As you are aware, in January 2020, Chinese authorities confirmed a new type of coronavirus, known as 2019-nCoV. The World Health Organization has declared a global health emergency as a result of the coronavirus outbreak which has now spread well beyond China, where it first emerged.

We understand that the outbreak has caused significant concerns for many of our community in regards to international travel and the status of the 2020 World Butchers’ Challenge, scheduled for September 4 & 5 in Sacramento, California. The situation is a rapidly evolving issue and unfortunately it is not possible to predict what will happen in the coming weeks and months. It is too early to say how long the disruption to international visitation is likely to last and how long the recovery period might be.

The World Butchers’ Challenge is in daily contact with the host organisations re contingency planning and will ensure any updates or developments are communicated to all in a timely manner.

As always, please feel free to contact us directly with any concerns or questions at anytime however, we appreciate your understanding that we are all in the same position with an unpredictable situation and the approach we need to take what comes next on a case by case basis.
