2022 Entry Criteria: WCBA&YB

As we have, inevitably, rescheduled the World Butchers’ Challenge (WBC) and World Champion Butcher Apprentice & Young Butcher Competition (WCBA&YB) twice now, delaying the original date by two years, we have had to make some tough calls. One of which, is a change to the entry criteria for the WCBA&YB in order to ensure the competitions remain fair and relevant.

Therefore, the following entry criteria now applies:

WORLD CHAMPION BUTCHER APPRENTICE

  1. Entrants

Entrants for the Apprentice Butcher challenge must still be enrolled into training with a registered training provider as of 1st March 2021*. Age is not a factor.

* The original rules stated that an entrant had to be training as an apprentice six months prior to the competition to qualify for the Butcher Apprentice category. As a show of good faith, in response to the delay from COVID this will be extended by 12 months to 18 months.

WORLD CHAMPION YOUNG BUTCHER

  1. Entrants

Entrants for the Young Butcher challenge must be under the age of 35* as of 1st March 2022.

* The original rules stated that an entrant had to be under the age of 31 to qualify for the Young Butcher category. As a show of good faith, in response to the delay from COVID this will be extended to 35.

We will be contacting individual countries to ascertain whether their nominated entrants still qualify or whether they require changes to be made to their WCBA&YB contingents.

In the meantime, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us here.
